Christie Kuys has a deep passion for mechanical design, especially automotive and mountain bike related.
After completing his B.Engineering Mechanical degree at the University of Stellenbosch in 2002, he started his career as mechanical engineer at the SA Air Force. In 2008 he left the Air Force to start a career in armoured vehicle design. Since 2008, he was the lead design engineer on numerous projects, including three complete vehicles.
During these projects he gained much experience in design to specifications, conceptual and detail design, design for manufacturing, working with customers and understanding their needs, configuration management, project management, balancing cost vs performance and the managing and training of junior design engineers.
Early in 2018 Christie started Kuys Industries (Pty) Ltd to provide a design service to various industries such as agriculture and mountain bike.
Kuys Industries’ design philosophy is to combine simplicity with out-of-the-box ideas.
